This was a typical local derby devoid of much flowing football but full of meaty challenges and bad misses. Saltcoats went ahead in the 14th.min. through a Michael McColgan penalty which was awarded after Chris Jones was brought down in the box. Half-time 1-0 Saltcoats. Ardeer equalised shortly after the break with Dougie Ellis finding the net. Thereafter the game was anybodys, but neither keeper was troubled unduly. All in all a draw was a fair but disappointing result.
