Our story

More Than 135 Years of the Vics

Founded in 1889, Saltcoats Victoria Football Club has been part of the fabric of the town for more than 135 years.

Known as The Seasiders, the Vics began life during the formative years of organised football in Ayrshire. The club's early home was at Miller Road before the growth of Saltcoats eventually saw Victoria move to Campbell Park, the ground that generations of supporters have come to regard as home.

A Club with History

The early years quickly established Saltcoats Victoria within Ayrshire football. By 1891, the club was among those represented in discussions surrounding the formation of an Ayrshire football league.

One of the defining moments of those early decades arrived in 1925, when Saltcoats Victoria lifted the Scottish Junior Cup.

The final against St Anthony's became an epic three-match contest. The first meeting at Firhill finished 1–1 before the replay ended 3–3. The clubs returned to Firhill for a deciding match, where Saltcoats Victoria secured a 2–1 victory and brought the Scottish Junior Cup home to Saltcoats.

It remains one of the greatest achievements in the club's history.

Campbell Park

For generations, Campbell Park has been at the centre of the Saltcoats Victoria story.

It has witnessed cup runs, promotions, difficult seasons, memorable victories and thousands of players and supporters passing through its gates.

The club has also had to overcome significant challenges. Campbell Park's old grandstand was destroyed during severe weather in the early 1970s, while problems with facilities much later resulted in the Vics temporarily leaving their home and groundsharing before eventually returning.

Through every setback, the connection between the club, Campbell Park and the town has endured.

A New Chapter

Recent years have brought another period of significant change.

Following an extremely difficult 2023/24 season, when the future of the club faced serious challenges, members of the local community stepped forward to help rebuild Saltcoats Victoria.

Since then, the focus has extended beyond results on a Saturday afternoon. Work has been undertaken to improve Campbell Park, strengthen the club's organisation and finances, attract new supporters and partners, and establish a more sustainable future.

In 2025, the club celebrated the centenary of its Scottish Junior Cup triumph, connecting today's generation of supporters with one of the proudest moments in its history.

The story continues.

From Miller Road to Campbell Park, from the heroes of 1925 to the players who pull on the maroon and amber today, generations have represented the same town and the same football club.

Our Club. Our Town. Since 1889.
