Saltcoats Vics 2–1 Darvel — West of Scotland Cup (SJFA West Region), 29 Dec 2012

Saltcoats progressed to the next round with 2 goals from captain and man of the match Bryan Slaven, but credit must be given to all the team as they worked hard to stay on top of a good Darvel side. The first goal came from a corner and was met sweetly by Slaven down into the bottom corner on 12 mins to put the vics one up, the second again from a corner but after a bit of goal mouth scramble Slaven prodded home his and Saltcoats second on 30mins, there was half chances for Young, Monan and McLelland before the break but to no avail.

The second half was always going to be tough against the wind and it was made even harder 5mins into the second half when Darvel pulled one back, but Saltcoats kept plugging away and were unlucky not to go further ahead when McLellend met a Young cross sweetly but his shot was well held by the big keeper, Darvel were always in this game and Lundy in the Saltcoats goal was called upon more than once to keep his side ahead. his cause was also helped by Holden,Easdon and Stewart at the back and Joe Hands putting in some great tackeling, and Mclelland and Young were always a danger going forward with Monan putting in some telling crosses, and with Milligan and Davidson working the mid-field well, but in the end it was Slaven's distribution of the ball and his willingness to get into the box and help out the strickers that earned him mom.

Second half subs Frye,Quinn and Patrick all played thier part when called upon but the later ones were more to eat the clock up, but all players deserved a mention.
