Saltcoats Vics 3–4 Craigmark — SJFA West Region Ayrshire District League, 5 Jan 2013

Saltcoats started 2013 with a ding dong game against Craigmark and right up until the final wistle you did not know what the outcome was going to be. For the first 20mins or so both teams sounded each other out, afterwhich Saltcoats began to get the upper hand, and they took the lead on 30mins when McLelland headed home a Monan corner, shortly afterwards Joe Young was unlucky not to make it 2 when his free kick came back off the crossbar and a shot from Raymond Milligan was just past the post 2mins later, but on 42mins Brian Slaven did make it 2-0 when he fired home a corner that was'nt cleared, but on half-time Saltcoats gave Craigmark a lifeline when some slack passing at the back was punished when Balford nicked in and stole the ball and fired home to make the half-time score Saltcoats 2 Craigmark 1.

Saltcoats were first on the attack in the second half when Slaven was through one on one with the keeper but it was to be the goalies day as straight from his through out Craigmark went up the park and Balford made it 2-2 when he fired home from a tight angle, Saltcoats then bnrought on Frye for Milligan in an attempt to stiffen up the middle of the park but before he had a chance to get into the game Gough made it 3-2 for Craigmark, but that lead only lasted 3mins whem McLelland made it 3-3 when he hammered home a goalmouth scramble, and he was unlucky not to get his hat-trick 3 mins later when the keeper got a hand to his next drive and turned it round the post, on 80mins Salcoats were awarded a penalty after Young was up ended after rounding the defender up stepped Paul Monan butr it was to be the goalies day as he done well to dive to his right an palm the penalty away. 5mins later the keeper was to again save from Monan after a drive at his near post and the defender save Frye's rebound. Saltcoats day was to be made worse when Craigmark went up the park and took the lead agian when Balford got his third and Craigmarks forth, but Saltcoats to thier credit were not finished and for the last 3 or 4 mins pounded the Craigmark goal but to no avail and the game finished Saltcoats 3 Craigmark 4
