Saltcoats Vics 1–1 Troon — SJFA West Region Ayrshire District League, 23 Feb 2013

Saltcoats today fought out a good 1-1 draw with second top Troon, a fair result in the end up this time as both teams tried hard , played a lot of good football, and in the end probably a fair result.

The first half Troon were the better of the 2 side although Saltcoats started well and played the first 7 or 8 mins in the Troon half, but as the half wore on Troon started to come into it and made Saltcoats defence work hard well backed up by Lundy in goal. And at the end of the half Saltcoats were unlucky not to take the lead when Paul Monan hit the post.

The second half saw Saltcoats make the most of the game, and some of the football was great, especially from McLelland, Monan and Young up front and it was no great surprise when McLelland stripped the defender and put over a pin point cross for Young to volley home and put Vics one up, there was further chances for Ferris from 20yds just over and McLelland just wide after he lead the defence a merry dance. Troon did get back on level terms with 5mins to go as for once thier long ball paid off and thier fresh legs up front for once beat the defence and Lundy to  make it all square, Saltcoats did have one more chance to win the game but McLelland was just wide of the target after his shot was rushed a little by the on rushing keeper. But it must be said the whole team played thier part today and a draw was a fair result.
