Saltcoats Vics
Cumnock
Match report
Saltcoats ran Scottish Cup quarter finalists Cumnock close it this one and game them as good as they got losing out to 2 quick goals just before the break.
In the first half Mathew Santos was giving the Cumnock rear guard all sorts of problems and he was being assisted well by Tam McLelland, and when Cumnock did break through they found Ross Lundy in good form. The goal when it did come in the 40th min came from a Saltcoats attack and it was only the speed of the attack that foiled Saltcoats when Hanvey quickly broke up the wing and crossed for Bradford to slot home, and on the stroke of half time Hanvey himself added number 2, at that time you feared the worst for Saltcoats but the second half was to be a different with Saltcoats doing most of the attacking.
In the second half Salltcoats tried to get back into the game and had Cumnock on the back foot for good spells in the second half, there was a claim for a penalty after McLelland had beaten the defender and crossed and the ball came off the defenders arm but after consulting his linesman the ref correctly gave a free kick, and towards the end Joe Young was unlucky when he chipped the keeper only to see his chip go agonizingly wide of the upright. The man of the match was a tight affair with Lundy, Santos and Ferris all in contension but in the end it went to Ross Lundy with 2 good saves at the death.
