Annbank United 2–1 Saltcoats Vics — SJFA West Region Ayrshire District League, 30 Nov 2013

This was a game that had Saltcoats fans pulling thier hair out, and for more than one reason, firstly the inconsistance of the team throughout the season, and how when they have most of the pressure in a game they still come away the loser.

The differance in the teams performance this week compared to last was night and day, Saltcoats had thier first chance inside the first min when the ball fell to Jordan Stewart inside the 6yd box and he pulled his shot wide. Gradually Annbank came into the game and it was them who took the lead on 9 mins when a long ball up the park from defence was knocked out to Sloan who in turn fed McDowell and he tucked the ball away well passed Caterson in the Saltcoats goal in just about thier first attack, shortly afterwards Saltcoats lost Hercus to a nagging injury preventing him getting off the ground, and brought on Adam Easdon. Saltcoats pulled level on 25mins when a pin point free kick from Gregory from the right was met with a powerful header from Santos to make it 1-1. Just as the game looked as if it was about to finish the half at 1-1, Saltcoats were denied a free kick on the half way line when Monan was up ended, and Sloan once again played on fed the big no9 and he scored to make the half time score Annbank 2 Saltcoats 1.

The second half followed much the same pattern as the first with Saltcoats having the bulk of possesion but when it came to the final third the pass was over hit or hit the first defender, much to the annoyance of the good Saltcoats support, when they did get a shot away it was mostly from distance and easily delt with by the keeper. In the last 10mins or so manager Rylans pushed on Knight for Gibson looking to pull things level and the big striker was unfortunate when he knocked the ball down for Santos and only a good save kept the little striker out and the chance was gone FT Annbank 2 Saltcoats 1
