Written by KeanoGirvan started this game the stronger and Saltcoats found it difficult to get the ball for the first 15mins or so, but Saltcoats to thier credit stuck to thier guns and gradually worked thier way into the game, both teams were trying to play football on a heavy pitch. The first couple of chances fell to Girvan but both Mitchell and Dyer did not trouble Catterson in the Saltcoats goal. The refferree was to show early on he was up for no nonsence when he brandished the yellow card for either side early on, but chance in the first half were few and far between, with the mid-feilders and defences winning most of the battles, an injury to Callum Hercus on 10mins ment he had to leave the feild for treatment, but in the end had to be replaced by Jordan Stewart, although Saltcoats did have a chance from Santos but his shot was well over. Just as the half was coming to an end the ref showed Paterson a red card for a kickout at Ryan after the afore mentioned player had come in with a bad tackle, but as the ref said he did not see the tackle just the retaliation thus leaving Saltcoats a man down for the remainder of the game.
The second half was to be as tight an affair as the first, but even with ten men Saltcoats were never to be out of it, and with Santos and Hart begining to find each another it was causing the Girvan defence a few problems, and when Saltcoats were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area with 10mins gone you felt Santos should have done better than put it into the wall twice, and from the free kick Girvan went up the park in attack but Gregory stifled the danger and put it out for a throw in, from the throw in Forde was adjudged to have brought down Mithcell and the ref decided penalty, and the same player got up to take the penalty and put it 3yds wide although it must be said if it had been on target Catterson would have got to it. Girvan intoduce ex-Saltcoats man Tam McLelland as a trialist min way through the half but he was well marshaled by hie ex team mates. with 10mins to go Saltcoats replaced Hart with Chris McInness as the striker took a knock, and shortly afterwards Monan had a chance to win it for Saltcoats but his shot was just wide, so it finished 0-0
