Kello Rovers 2–0 Saltcoats Vics — SJFA West Region Ayrshire District League, 6 Sep 2014

Report by Keano

For the first half both teams were evenlly matched, but in the second there was only one side wanting to win and they did.

The first half was a tight affair with Saltcoats playing the better football but only just, and Kello playing the punt up the park when required which was a few times if just to give the defence a breather. Joe Young was first to have a go but his week shot was delt with easilly by Dunsmore in the Kello goal. When Kello did break Aitken was proving a handful. James Moan was next to try his luck at goal but his effort was poor and easily saved, next up was Chris Black after he was played in by the ever improving Liam Curran, and he brought a good save from Dunsmore. At the other end Catterson was brought into action by Pagan and proved up to the job by turning the ball wide, just before half time Calum Hercus had a powerful run and shot turned round the post by Dunsmore in Kello goal to keep the sides level at the break.

Right from kick off in the second half Kello made there intensions clear and ran ,pushed and harrassed Saltcoats in all areas of the park, and bullied Saltcoats into giving up this game and in the end came out easy winners. The second half was only 7 mins old when a long ball over the top from a corner went over Catterson in the saltcoats goal and fell to Hampson who made no mistake to put Kello ahead. On the hour mark Pagan made it 2-0 when a ball over the defense was left and he nipped in to chip over the advancing Catterson and double Kello's lead. Saltcoats brought on Kyle Russell for Monan and he showed some good touches. With 10mins to go Calum Hercus was unlucky at the back post with a header not to pull one back, but in the end Kello were worthy winners.
