Dalry started this game well and within the first 3 mins brought out two good saves from Jim Catterson in the Saltcoats goal, firstly from a David Mills shot then from Greig McVeigh, but the game was no even 10mins old when ref Fullerton brought out the yellow card for George Bonner for what must have been about the first tackle of the game, a policy he was to repeat on more than one occasion and ruin a decent game.
Joe Young made Summers in the Dalry goal work on a couple of occasions before Greg Morrison followed Bonner into the book, and he was followed 2mins later by Ryan McKie on 20mins, ref Fullerton then awarded Dalry a penalty for what looked like a very soft tackle well outside the box, but up stepped David Mills to calmly slot the ball past Catterson for 1-0 Dalry in the 23min. Saltcoats then took the game to Dalry and Ryan McKie was unlucky not to even it up on the half hour mark but Liam Curran did bring things level again 2mins later when good work by Joe Young put the ball on a plate for Curren to slot home. Craig Marshal was next into the book on 38mins, after which Joe Young was unlucky when his header beat Summner but came back of the post to safety, but the little striker was not to be denied as he put Saltcoats ahead when he met a cross from Weaver and stroked it into the back of the net to put Vics in front. But Saltcoats joy was to be short lived as Dalry went up the park from the kick off and McVeigh made it 2-2 just before the break.
The second half was no less frantic, and Dalry took the lead 2mins after the restart when Mark Butler fired home from close range after a goal mouth scramble from a corner to put Dalry 3-2 ahead, and at the other end Sean Quinn test the keeper with a shot on 51mins, but on 52mins the game swung in Dalry's favour when ref Fullerton dismissed Alan Weaver for a tackle in which he clearly won the ball and there was no complaint from the Dalry player, and from the resulting free kick Dalry made it 4-2 when Mills scored his second after vics failed to deal with the high ball. In the 65th min Saltcoats were reduced to 9 men when Ryan McKie was dismissed for a second bookable offence, and he was followed to the club house by manager Frye after he ask for an explanation. Steven Gibson then replace Liam Curren and before he got a chance to get into the game Greig McVeigh wrapped up the points for Dalry with his second and a fifth for Dalry, and just before the final whistle David Mills scored his third and Dalry's sixth to round off a bad day for the seasiders.
